POLICY DIALOGUE BETWEEN STAKEHOLDERS AND WOMEN REPRESENTATIVES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WHICH HELD AT NICON LUXURY HOTEL ABUJA ON THE 8TH OF MARCH, 2018

The theme for the UN Women Commemoration of the International Women’s Day was: “Time is Now: rural and urban activities transforming women’s lives” thereby drawing attention to the rights and activism of rural women, who make up over a quarter of the world population. It had participants from across the country living in both rural and urban areas. WILPF Nigeria was fully represented by the Zonal Coordinator of North Central Zone, Mrs Philomena Zamani and the Programme Officer of WILPF Nigeria, Isi Ikhimiukor. Discussion on the topic: “Transforming the lives of rural women in Nigeria, Demands from Nigerian rural women and responses from stakeholders” gave room for participants to ask questions bothering them. The participants expressed excitement at the end of the event as it was an opportunity to interact and address issues bothering the women living in the rural and urban areas
