The Partner’s meeting of the Women’s Situation Room Nigeria (WSRN) held on the 21st of April, 2017 at Grand Ibro Hotel Annex, Abuja. It had in attendance the National Coordinator, Zonal Coordinators from North East, North Central and North West, and 2 staff of WILPF Nigeria.
The Objective of the meeting was:
Each Zonal Coordinators gave an updates on their zones and then developed a workplan for the year 2017 and other important documents.
The National Coordinator of WSRN gave a presentation on “Transformative leadership in a fragile environment”. In her presentation, she defined transformative leadership as bringing out positive change in the individual (in our lives) which in turn affect others and our environment. She listed out 4 basic composition of transformative leadership as; contextual, constructed, emergent, and paradoxical. She emphasized on what should be accommodated as a transformative leaders – Development Skills, Commitment, Creativity, Passion and what should be out – Care free attitude, Lack of commitment, and Non development.
She explained fragile environment as Conflicts, Gender Inequality, Violence, and Poverty.
She concluded her presentation by asking the Zonal Coordinators to reflect and also make personal commitments towards WSRN.
The meeting ended with discussions on the way forward for WSRN.
