OBSERVERS TRAINING

WSRN with support from the UN WOMEN and Government of Canada organized a one-day capacity strengthening training for mapped women groups and observers on incident reporting and gendered observation of election on the 16th of June 2022 in Ekiti State. The training focused on gendered election observations and reporting of elections, VAWE, ways of mitigating violence against women in elections, safety protocols in election observation and incident reporting. The objective of the observers training was to provide women the opportunity to actively participate as observers during the elections reporting from a gender perspective. Also to obtain firsthand information and collate data from the field for documentation of events; to record the participation of women and also take note of INEC efficiency as they conduct the elections.

Through the trainings, we were able to build capacity of the 60 women participants on incidenting various forms of violence and gendered observation of elections
