INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE SOUTH EAST PEACE AND SECURITY NETWORK WHICH HELD AT WILPF SECRETARIAT, ENUGU ON THE 2ND OF FEBRUARY, 2018

The Inaugural meeting of the South East Peace and Security Network of the South Eastern Zone held on the 2nd of February, 2018. It had in attendance participants from different Non-Governmental Organizations from across Enugu, Abia and Anambra states. The president of WILPF Nigeria Joy Onyesoh facilitated the meeting and gave the purpose of the meeting as the need to start a Peace and Security Network of the South East Geo-political zone which would look and identify conflict drivers, engage communities we are working in, build capacity of the NGOs and give feedback to the National. She mentioned that there is a Peace and Security Network at the National level consisting of 64 members of which the Steering committee (WILPF Nigeria is a member) have decided to have a Peace and Security Network in the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The South East Peace and Security Network picked two thematic areas which were: Elections and Fulani Herdsmen Crisis. The meeting concluded with members stating their experience at their various levels on peace and security and expressing excitement to be part of the network
