Drawing from 2023 Presidential and Gubernatorial elections, reports from the states observed by WSRN revealed various forms of violence against women ranging from physical violence, economic and structural violence. These were experienced by women voters; candidates; security agencies and electoral bodies.
Despite concerted efforts made by various stakeholders to promote women’s political participation the results from the just concluded general and state elections showed a decline in women’s engagement.
Through the post mortem dialogue, stakeholders identified challenges, patterns , trends, stating ways to address them . Also, a road map ahead of the LGA and 2027 elections. Stakeholders identified advocacy asks to advocate to key stakeholders.
