WILPF Nigeria participated in the five days capacity building training in the promotion of women peace and security agenda organized by the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) Addis Ababa. The training spanned from the 9th of May to the 14th of May 2022.
The objectives were: To increase participant understanding of the gendered nature of conflict and Peacebuilding, including its differential impact on women, men, and people of all gender identities, strengthen participants understanding of women, peace, and security international and regional instruments and how to engage with them, strengthen the capacity of participants to effectively counter militarized masculinities and mobilize men for feminist peace and to strengthen the capacity of participants to efficiently mainstream WPS agenda in their work and effectively advocate for the involvement of women in conflict resolution and Peacebuilding processes.
Participating in the training helped built capacities of staff on the Women Peace and Security Agenda and ways of engaging with men in promoting feminist peace while lingering militarized masculinities.
