WSRN State Coordinator Plateau paid advocacy visits to key stakeholders

A build up from the Post Mortem, WSRN State Coordinator Plateau paid advocacy visits to key stakeholders to raise awareness among relevant stakeholders on issues preventing women’s political participation. Additionally, the advocacy was carried out to get the commitment of stakeholders on some policy reviews such that it promotes women’s political participation.
Some of the asks includes:
1.Accessibility and inclusivity of electoral document by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC): provision of materials for persons with disabilities such as interpreters for the hearing impaired, making available Braille for the visually impaired, choice of polling centers to enable ease of access
2. Inclusive and convenient venues for political meetings by political parties
3. Commitment by key actors on implementing electoral laws and prosecuting offenders
4. Strengthened VAW reporting mechanism: strengthen safe spaces within electoral processes where women can report incidences of violence or harassment.
5. Strengthened engagement with media on reducing stereotyping and enhancing visibility for women in politics.
6. Implementation of the Violence against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act in states.
